THE BUOYS SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘STAY UP TO DATE ON POLITICS’

Arriving as the final taster of their forthcoming album, Concrete Cowboy, The Buoys return with new single ‘Stay Up To Date On Politics’, a commentary on self-discovery as the world around you spins faster than ever.

Sonically inspired by the likes of Adrianne Lenker, Joni Mitchell and Phoebe Bridgers, today’s single is delicately stripped back without compromising on emotional introspection. Described by Zoe as a stream of consciousness, ‘Stay Up To Date On Politics’ is the heartbeat of Concrete Cowboy, providing a calm in the storm in a world that never slows down.

Speaking of the single, Zoe shares:

“‘Stay Up To Date On Politics’ is very much a train of thought song. You’re hearing my word vomit from start to finish on thoughts and themes that cross my mind multiple times a day. Like what bills do I need to pay, and what have I been avoiding that needs to get done yesterday, but also who am I? All in a days overthinking”

Crafted from years of demos, lyrical musings, guitar progressions and deep personal reflections, Concrete Cowboy is produced by Chris Collins, with co-writes from Alistair Hayes, Fletcher Matthews, Konstantin Kerstin and Dylan Ollivierre.

The exploration in Concrete Cowboy is seen within the eclectic sonic inspirations from Adrianne Lenker and The 1975, to HAIM and The Beths, as well as the lyrical revelations sparked by 80s cult classic films, Roman poetry, personal dream sequences and so much more.

Speaking on the album, the band share:

“We were in the studio together when the phrase came to us: too many tabs open. That became the heartbeat of the record. Concrete Cowboy is about trying to keep pace with a world that never slows down, and what you find when you finally stop. Dreams, repressed memories, the blur between what’s real and what your mind has been quietly holding. We wanted to build a world around that feeling, one that lives in a surrealist dream state where those lines don’t just blur, they dissolve. We hope listeners find themselves inside it, so they can have a dance when it all feels a little too much.”

The Buoys recently announced their Concrete Cowboy Album Tour, stopping in Hobart, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

The Concrete Cowboy Album Tour will be followed by an exciting support slot for The Buoys when they support Foo Fighters on November 12 at McDonald Jones Stadium, before heading overseas in January 2027 for tour dates across Europe and the UK.
