CRYPTOPSY, revered for death metal staples like Blasphemy Made Flesh and None So Vile, return with An Insatiable Violence—their ninth studio album and a powerful follow-up to 2023’s As Gomorrah Burns, which earned them a Canadian Grammy.

The album’s concept came to vocalist Matt McGachy in a dream and reflects society’s addiction to social media. A short film accompanying the record follows the rapid rise and tragic fall of an influencer, set to eight blistering new tracks.

“The life of content creators can be far more detrimental compared to day-to-day social media users,” McGachy says. “The short film weaves between the audience worshiping the protagonist, losing interest, turning against her and eventually just ignoring her efforts. In a last-ditch effort for attention the protagonist takes her own life in the search of eternal fame.”

The cover art, created by late former vocalist Martin Lacroix, adds deeper meaning. “Martin was one of our great friends,” the band says. “We wish he was here to share this with us. Rest in peace, brother.”

With An Insatiable Violence, CRYPTOPSY once again prove they remain one of death metal’s most vital forces.

Since joining the band in 2007, McGachy has helped shape their evolving sound—bridging brutal tradition with fresh perspective.
Beyond his role in Cryptopsy, McGachy is also the host of the long-running Vox & Hops podcast, where he speaks with musicians and creatives about metal, mental health, and craft beer making him one of the genre’s most respected voices offstage as well.
