Slow Cinema – Announce Debut EP + New Single ‘Magic Potion’

Mulubinba/Newcastle-based indie-rock band Slow Cinema have just announced their exciting debut EP due FridayMarch 8. Accompanying the announcement is their latest single off the record, ‘Magic Potion‘ – produced and mixed by Jack Nigro (DMA’sThe TerrysPacific AvenueMiddle Kids).

‘Magic Potion’ entwines charming rhythm and dynamic drums that converge seamlessly with Tyler Gibbs‘ magnetic vocals. The vibrant melody forges an expressive atmosphere, shaping a guitar-infused core that pulsates with unbridled passion.

Slow Cinema talk about the inspiration behind ‘Magic Potion’:

“‘Magic Potion’ embodies the desire to break the chains of life’s hackneyed constraints. The music surges around lyrical themes of escapism and the idealisation of breaking free, inviting the listener to pack their bags, close their eyes and float away.”

Accompanying the release is the music video directed/edited by Wanagi Zable-Andrew, shot at The Underground and Sawtooth Studios based in Mulubinba/Newcastle. Opening with a white door frame on a tranquil beach, the enigmatic protagonist is seen emerging from the door with a suitcase, centring the narrative as she travels through different landscapes. Ominous shots of masked individuals in formal attire and close-ups of green liquid in a crystal glass add surreal touches to the narrative, before the video concludes cohesively through the realms of reality and imagination.

Previous single ‘Pocket Knife’ off the upcoming EP is also set to be featured on ‘Made In Chelsea: Sydney‘ (Offshoot of famous UK reality show ‘Made In Chelsea‘). It has seen support from Australian community radio stations such as SYN MediaRTR FM4ZZZThree D Radio, UCFM and Gove FM.
