Australian death metal brutalists COMPLEXANT present the second incendiary single ‘Afterlife’ from the band’s full-length debut ‘Apex’.
Vocalist Dan Greigsy offers the following on the song’s lyrical concept:
“A married couple struggling to make ends meet yet completely devoted to one another, make a suicide pact to escape their growing debt problems. The lyrics are almost like the final conversation of them convincing themselves to end it all echoing out with the realization ‘Nobody wants to live forever when you’re living the hard life and dying on the inside.'”
The video was brilliantly created by Adam Davis-Powell at Demon Race Productions with acting by Beverley Moisey & Daniel Jagger, who together capture the subject matter through a surreal and classic silent movie style depiction
‘Apex’ offers 10 tracks of brilliantly violent riffing fuelled by percussive intensity and unearthly vocals. The album was mixed and mastered by Cryptopsy guitarist Christian Donaldson who has been behind sensational albums by icons Suffocation, Despised Icon, Shadow of Intent and Ingested. Following a collection of critically acclaimed singles and 2023’s A Rite of Passage EP, COMPLEXANT is set to cement their status in the global metal community with ‘Apex’.
The album is due out on July 31 via Bleeding Art Collective in partnership with Blood Blast Distribution.
