Welsh post-hardcore favourites Holding Absence are set to return to Australia this August for their long-awaited first full headline tour, bringing their acclaimed live show to fans across the country. Ahead of the release of their new album Modern Life Is Lonely on August 28 via Sumerian Record

The Everblack Podcast caught up with Holding Absence frontman Lucas Woodland to talk about the band’s long-awaited Australian headline tour, new singles “Reflection” and “Whisper,” signing with Sumerian Records, and the creative direction behind their upcoming album Modern Life Is Lonely. Lucas also discusses the differences between Australian and Japanese crowds, his famously energetic stage presence, and why this new era of Holding Absence is all about growth, connection, and writing the strongest songs of their career.

Watch/listen to the interview here:

Modern Life Is Lonely is a deeply human exploration of grief, love, identity and emotional survival in an overstimulated world, tracing the fragile line between despair and rebirth through imagery of broken mirrors, fading memories, fractured bodies and ghost-like connections. Across the record, Holding Absence wrestle with loneliness, trauma, mortality and the search for meaning, balancing crushing vulnerability with moments of transcendence and hope as the album’s characters attempt to reconnect with themselves and each other before time, distance and modern existence pull them apart completely.

New album ‘Modern Life Is Lonely’ is out August 28th on Sumerian Records.
