Rock heavyweights Foo Fighters have released their 12th studio album Your Favorite Toy, out now, marking a bold new chapter in the band’s ever-evolving sound.
The record was crafted in an intimate home studio setting and co-produced by the band alongside Oliver Roman, capturing a raw, immediate energy that reflects both experimentation and instinct. Leading the release is the focus single “Window,” arriving alongside the full album.
The title track, “Your Favorite Toy,” served as the catalyst for the project when it dropped earlier this year, coinciding with the album announcement and the band’s upcoming AU/NZ tour reveal. According to frontman Dave Grohl, the track unlocked the creative direction of the entire record.
“‘Your Favorite Toy’ really was the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album,” Grohl explains. “We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape I knew that we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.”
That sense of reinvention runs throughout the album, with “Your Favorite Toy” standing apart from anything else in the band’s monolithic catalogue while remaining instantly recognisable. Opening track “Caught In The Echo” wastes no time, igniting the record with a combustible burst that channels the band’s renowned live intensity.
Elsewhere, “Of All People” has already made an impression, debuting live in a striking performance inside an Irish church as part of Other Voices, showcasing the band’s dynamic range in an intimate setting.
Earlier this year, the band treated Australian fans to a special one-off performance in Launceston, offering a taste of what’s to come. They’ll return later in 2026 for a massive stadium run across Brisbane, Townsville, Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne and Adelaide this November, before heading to Christchurch, Auckland and Perth in January 2027.
With Your Favorite Toy, Foo Fighters once again prove their ability to evolve while staying true to the sound that made them one of the most enduring rock bands of their generation.
