South East Queensland punk outfit Global Asset have officially unleashed their highly anticipated new album Wasting Time, available now across all major streaming platforms.
Captured at their most energetic and self-aware, Wasting Time is a raw, fast, and eclectic collection of tracks shaped by a year of relentless songwriting, gigging, and — as the title suggests — a fair share of wasted moments along the way. Rather than leaning into heavy-handed themes, the record finds its identity in the everyday: the distractions, trivialities, and social observations that fill the gaps between life’s bigger moments. It’s an album that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but still manages to say something real.
Recorded at Swann Pond Studios with producer Ali Richardson, the album came together during a particularly eventful period for the band. That energy bleeds into every track, giving Wasting Time a sense of immediacy and authenticity that reflects Global Asset’s evolving sound and growing confidence.
Sonically, the record is a vibrant mix of skate punk urgency, ska grooves, reggae rhythms, and even a surprising nod to 1950s-style melodic vocal harmonies. The result is a sound that feels both chaotic and tightly crafted — loud, dynamic, and undeniably fun.
Having spent the past year road-testing much of the material, Global Asset have built a strong local following while refining their songs in front of live audiences. That experience shines through on Wasting Time, making it a record that feels unfiltered, high-energy, and tailor-made to be played loud.
Wasting Time is out now on all streaming platforms.
