Since forming in 2016, Bound In Fear has built a reputation as one of the most punishing acts in modern extreme music. Early releases like the underground-lauded Regicide EP and breakthrough 2019 full-length The Hand of Violence showcased the band’s signature blend of crushing downtempo brutality, bleak atmospherics, and intensely personal lyricism. Extensive UK and European touring has cemented their status as a staple within the heavy music community.
Building on the darkness and sonic depth of 2021’s Eternal EP, the band released their sophomore album Penance the same year, exploring the personal upbringing of frontman Ben Mason. The record concluded a conceptual trilogy delving into depression, abuse, and anger — described by Distorted Sound Mag as “crushing from start to finish and will leave you reeling by the time it releases you from its formidable grasp.”
After the success of Eternal and Penance, Bound In Fear spent three years crafting their next chapter in the shadows, returning in 2024 with the acclaimed single “Sentenced.”
Now in March 2026, Bound In Fear have released A Mind Too Sick To Heal, described by the band as:
