The Norwegian-American aggrotech and industrial metal powerhouse COMBICHRIST continues to push the boundaries of the genre and captivate audiences worldwide. Their 2024 release, tenth studio album CMBCRST, highlights the band’s relentless energy and innovative sound.

The current live lineup features founder and frontman Andy LaPlegua on vocals, Eric13 on guitar, Elliott Berlin on keyboards, and Jamie Cronander on guitar — together delivering the intense, high-octane performances that fans have come to expect.

The Everblack Podcast caught up with Andy LaPlegua, the mastermind behind Combichrist, to dive deep into the band’s signature high-energy live performances, the creative process behind new music, and what it’s like to return to Australia after years away. Founded in 2003 by Norwegian musician Andy LaPlegua (also of Icon of Coil), Combichrist began as a solo electronic project exploring harsh EBM and aggrotech sounds. The debut album The Joy of Gunz (2003) established LaPlegua’s vision: dark, aggressive beats fused with industrial chaos. Over time, Combichrist evolved into a full live band, delivering notoriously intense performances that gained them a loyal global following.

Through albums like Everybody Hates You (2005), What the F**k Is Wrong with You People? (2007), and Today We Are All Demons (2009), the project expanded its sonic scope, blending metal, rock, and electronic influences. Combichrist’s soundtrack work for Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice further showcased their creative depth.

Now 10 albums deep, including the latest release CMBCRST (2024), the band continues to push boundaries in industrial and electronic metal, cementing their legacy as one of the most innovative and explosive acts in the genre.
