Melbourne-based two-piece Goat Coffin have unveiled their debut single, ‘Sacrifice the Rich Kids of North Fitzroy’.
Formed by Mortifex (vocals/guitar) and Tilegrinder (drums/vocals), Goat Coffin are possessed by the evil spirits of the unholy Goat, with the two-piece described as eternal outcasts forging ritualistic, devil’s music from the margins of hell.
‘Sacrifice the Rich Kids of North Fitzroy’ serves as the debut single from the Melbourne band, taking aim at gentrification and artisanal sourdough.
Inspired by the sound of a $14 oat flat white hitting bluestone laneways, the track is a ritualistic takedown of gentrification and artisanal sourdough, aimed squarely at disenfranchising the next generation of trust-fund cultural critics.
The accompanying music video was shot in Edinburgh Gardens and directed by ARIA Award-nominated director Sunny Leunig (Courtney Barnett, Paul Kelly, Bag Raiders).
The video draws on a local urban legend about the mysterious satanic sacrifices said to take place at the iconic North Fitzroy location.
