Australian Gold Coast Metalcore band Lynchmada have announced the release of “The Other Mexico,” a re-recorded version of the title track from their 2006 debut album. The single will be available on all streaming platforms from midnight AEST, 8 July 2026.
Twenty years on from its original release, “The Other Mexico” remains as ferocious as ever. The re-recording stays largely faithful to the original while delivering the clarity and punch that modern production allows — a fitting reintroduction for a band that helped shape the sound of Australian metalcore in the mid-2000s.
Enlisting Chris Themelco of Monolith Studios to mix and master the track, Themelco said: “Helping bring to life this reimagining of a Lynchmada classic was a blast. Giving it a fresh, modern and crushing sound to remind people why the band is still held in such high regard was the ultimate goal.”
“When we decided that we would play Necrosonic, we felt like we wanted to do more than just play another show,” the band said. “What better way to celebrate the band and do something special than to revisit The Other Mexico after 20 years!”
The band has previously shared stages with Lamb of God, Suicide Silence, and Cavalera Conspiracy. Their sound draws comparisons to Lamb of God, Unearth, and Poison the Well.
The release precedes a one-off performance at Necrosonic Festival in August 2026, the band’s first live appearance since 2019.
Necrosonic Festival Director Kent Haines said of the appearance: “It’s an honour to bring back one of my favourite bands of all time. I signed them to my first-ever label, supported them in their endeavours, and was then asked to play for them, leading to recording bass guitar on their Magnum Opus record (To The Earth). I cannot wait to see them back on stage!”
“The Other Mexico” is released through The Harm Company and is available on all major streaming platforms from 8 July 2026.
