Perth based melodic death metal outfit VANTA return with their debut full length album ‘Perpetual Selection’, a cinematic and concept driven record that explores humanity’s darker instincts through the lens of cosmic horror, mythology and dystopian sci fi.
VANTA’s ‘Perpetual Selection’ is a sonic and visual journey – Inspired by Indonesian dark folklore and survival horror games to the brutal sci-fi landscapes of Dune and Warhammer 40K, the album transforms real-world anxieties into symbolic narratives of monsters, collapse and rebirth. At its core, ‘Perpetual Selection’ honours melodeath roots by fusing the aggression and heaviness of modern american deathmetal with the folkiness and melodic sway of early euro death metal.
The Everblack Podcast caught up with Ferdi Handojo from Vanta to talk about their new album Perpetual Selection. Ferdi shared how the trio handles everything DIY, the blend of black metal, deathcore, and melodic death in the album, and the stories behind songs like Empty Shell, Kuyang, and Alchemy. He also talked about the themes of human struggle, folklore, and how metal serves as a creative outlet for the band and their fans.
