Textures have shared their long-awaited new album today, Genotypealongside a new video for the track ‘Measuring The Heavens’.
Coinciding with the album release is Textures’ European tour with progressive metallers Jinjer, kicking off today in Cologne. Speaking on the new video in no uncertain terms, Stef Broks from the band shared –
“A big part of songwriting is to tease the listener to a climax as long possible. In this case, we’re building up tension for 6 minutes to finally kick you in the nuts and leaves you naked in the desert with your calculator still in hand. Measuring The Heavens may not be for mortals.”

Serving as the conceptual counterpart to 2016’s acclaimed PhenotypeGenotype is not a continuation but a rebirth. For nearly a decade, fans speculated about its existence, but what arrives now is not a relic of unfinished ideas – it’s something entirely new, written from scratch and self-produced. Genotype distils the essence of TEXTURES’ DNA into eight new songs, mixed by Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus). Lyrically, the album speaks to the unheard – introverts, outsiders, and those navigating internal worlds that often go unseen, standing as an ode to authenticity and resilience.
