GOLDFINGER Talk Good Things Festival, New Album + Working with Mark Hoppus

Los Angeles punk rock icons Goldfinger helped ignite the U.S. ska-punk wave of the late ’90s. Formed in 1994, their breakthrough hit Here In Your Bedroom launched them onto global tours and cemented their status as scene legends. Across eight albums and millions of records sold, the band has remained a defining force with fan favourites like Superman and 99 Red Balloons.

Goldfinger are set to return to Australia for Good Things Festival, joining one of the most stacked lineups the event has ever delivered. This year’s bill features heavyweights TOOL, Weezer, Garbage, All Time Low, Machine Head, The All-American Rejects, Knocked Loose, Lorna Shore, Refused, New Found Glory and more!

The Everblack Podcast caught up with John Feldmann, Charlie Paulson and Phil Sneed of Goldfinger to talk about their long-awaited return to Australia for Good Things Festival and their special Melbourne sideshow. The guys share their excitement about coming back down under, the massive festival lineup they’re joining, and the friendships they’ve built over decades on the road.

We also dive into their brand new single Chasing Amy — the story behind its 90s-inspired vibes, collaborating with Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker on Freaking Out a Bit, and what fans can expect from their upcoming new album dropping in January.

The band reflect on how Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater introduced Goldfinger to a whole new generation, the surreal moments of hearing their music in the wild, and the artists who still leave them starstruck.

Goldfinger also share stories from past tours, their bucket-list Aussie experiences (including a few failed attempts to see quokkas), and what’s on the horizon for their 2025 touring plans.

Bursting into the spotlight with the hit Here In Your Bedroom, the band quickly became a defining force of the ’90s ska-punk movement. Their high-energy sound, fuelled by hooks and horn-driven chaos, led to global tours, millions of records sold, and iconic moments like Superman being featured in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. With eight studio albums and a reputation for explosive live shows, Goldfinger continue to influence the scene while releasing new music and performing worldwide.

The band have also been busy in 2025, releasing two new singles that showcase their enduring energy and knack for catchy hooks. “Freaking Out A Bit”, a collaboration with Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, combines pop-punk punch with reflective lyrics about life on the road. Meanwhile, “Chasing Amy” channels the band’s signature ska-punk bounce while exploring themes of love, nostalgia, and the passage of time.
