Deficit Announce EP ‘DEATHSTYLE’

Sydney-based nu-metal/hardcore group Deficit have announced their upcoming EP, DEATHSTYLE, is set for release Friday 21 November. To mark the occasion, the band have unveiled the title track, offering up a taste of what’s to come.

With this new release, Deficit are set on solidifying their identity by introducing the term “DEATHSTYLE”, a genre they’ve coined to capture the essence of their sound and ethos. “DEATHSTYLE is not only the title of the track, it’s the very embodiment of Deficit’s sound,” says the band. “Death” refers to our roots in Metal, Hardcore, Death Metal, and Deathcore, while “Style” captures the groove, catchiness, and swagger that define our identity. It’s the definition of Deficit’s own unique genre.”

The announcement follows the release of single “FYA” in early September, a blistering collaboration with UNITYTX that fused Deficit’s hardcore aggression with UNITYTX’s confrontational rap-metal energy. The track captures the chaotic chemistry between both acts and their shared disregard for convention. Watch the video here.

Forged in Sydney’s heavy music scene, Deficit have built a reputation as one of Australia’s most formidable rising metal acts, pulverising boundaries with their unapologetic and individual sonic identity. With four EPs and millions of streams to show for it, the quintet – Nathan NewmanMacleane RyanMichael CampbellBlake Fry and Zak Borg – continue to prove they’re ones to watch. The band have played on sold-out tours supporting the likes of Ocean Sleeper, Lil Lotus (US), Alpha Wolf, Malevolence (UK), UNITYTX (USA), Prompts (JPN), Diamond Construct and more and have honed their live show into a commanding set that’s earned them a growing reputation among fans and industry alike.

With DEATHSTYLE, Deficit are poised to dive even deeper into the darker edges of their music, embracing the rage that lies at their core. Their evolution reflects a newfound attitude – a rejection of polished, overproduced modernity in favour of authenticity, and sees them pull influence from the corners of 90’s metal and nu-metal, hardcore and industrial.

“DEATHSTYLE” is out now and available everywhere. ‘DEATHSTYLE’ the EP will be out Friday 21 November.
