Brisbane alternative rock trio The Comfort share final single, “Garden State“, off of their forthcoming album, Let The Love In, out next Friday 3rd October, with vinyl available via BreakThrough Records.
“Garden State” is a song about feeling out of place in the world. It wrestles with the idea of not quite fitting into what’s considered ‘normal’. “For most of my life, I’ve felt slightly outside the status quo and while that’s often a blessing, I still find myself wondering what it might be like to belong more easily,” says vocalist and bassist Dominic Harper. “At its core, Garden State is a letter to myself, or a kind of self pep talk to get out there, love people, love myself, and fully live life. Though the song carries a thread of melancholy, it ultimately reflects acceptance. I’ve learned to embrace who I am and to see the value in existing outside the norm. The world has so much to offer those of us who don’t quite fit, and it would be a shame not to lean into that and explore what it truly means to exist.
“Garden State” is the fourth track pulled from the new album, joining “Isolate.Fixate.
Recorded with ARIA-nominated producer and songwriter Callan Orr, their new album sees The Comfort tapping back into the heavier energy that first defined their sound, while continuing to evolve the dark, melodic textures that have become their trademark. The album reintroduces the trio’s signature blend of hook-laden riffs, introspective lyricism, and harmonious vocal duality. Let The Love In delves deep into the heart of The Comfort’s identity, uncovering a simple truth: Liam Holmes (vocals/guitar), Dominic Harper (vocals/bass) and Marcus Parente (lead guitar) are three people doing everything they can to grow – through pain, through doubt, through connection. Their songs explore themes of mental health, vulnerability, and the fear of letting love in, resonating with listeners who are navigating their own internal battles.
The new album arrives as the band continue to grow from a year that’s seen them launch their new music on tour with Chasing Ghosts along Australia’s East Coast and perform at the inaugural Converge Festival in Brisbane and Melbourne.
Boasting over 7.3 million streams on Spotify, The Comfort have carved out a loyal and growing global fanbase. Their music has resonated widely, earning airplay on triple j, Double J, Unearthed, BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show with Daniel Carter, Kerrang! Radio, Triple M, and community stations across Australia.
The Comfort continue to evolve through each release, drawing on their decade-long journey of vulnerability, connection, and personal growth. The Comfort first turned heads with their breakout Love EP, which amassed over 5 million streams and set the stage for their debut album What It Is To Be. Their sophomore record, Experience Everything. Live And Die. released via Greyscale Records in 2022 and further cemented their sound – featuring collaborations with AJ Perdomo of The Dangerous Summer and Dylan Davidson of Deadlights. Over the years, The Comfort have shared stages with scene heavyweights including Saosin (US), Don Broco (UK), The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (US), Thrice (US), Say Anything (US), Circa Survive (US), Void of Vision and so many more.
“Garden State” is out now and streaming everywhere. Let The Love In will be available Friday 3rd October.
