“This event is the ultimate party at North Gong,” enthuses North Gong Hotel manager Josh Hill. “Every year for New Year’s Eve, we create a massive festival vibe at the pub, we bring in stages and massive production, and book a rad music lineup. This year we’ll have pop up food and bars, three stages, a bunch of DJs, and we’re hyped to have Chillinit, The Terrys and RedHook joining us. What more fun could you want to celebrate NYE in Wollongong?!”
Hailing from Sydney, rap icon Chillinit catapulted from Western Sydney’s grime and drill scene into a multi-Platinum artist following the release of his debut full-length, 2018’s Women Weed & Wordplay. Armed with his trademark rapid-fire flow, raw authenticity and unwavering independent spirit, Chillinit is now in command of hundreds of millions of streams, four studio albums, including 2021’s ARIA Award-nominated Family Ties, and a reputation for igniting stages at the likes of Splendour In The Grass, This That Festival, Wildlands and beyond.
“There’s nowhere like Wollongong when it comes to the 420fam, it’s like my second home,” beams Chillinit, “I’ve always felt the love so what better news to announce I’m COMING BACK again for a huge NYE party alongside The Terrys and more. Let’s bring in the New Year with some big energy and good vibes, let’s see the whole fam travel out, I already know some of y’all gonna be coming from everywhere.”
Forming in 2020, indie rockers The Terrys evolved from a shared trailer house during the pandemic to storming the Aussie scene with their catchy hooks, raw lyricism and endless buoyant energy. Channelling their coastal Gerringong roots into their effervescent creations, The Terrys also fuse their mantra “Don’t think. Just do. And go with your heart” into tracks like Our Paradise, Pesos and Penny. With three songs featuring in triple j’s Hottest 100, multiple chart successes at home and abroad, and most recently in 2025 enamouring with their third self-titled studio album, The Terrys are primed to deliver pure immersive joy at North Gong’s NYE party this December.
A band eternally defiant of genre confines, expectations and limitations, Sydney’s RedHook are undeniably one of the most exciting modern acts on the scene, both at home and on a global scale. With 35 million streams and counting, touring with the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, Stand Atlantic, Sevendust and more, and a penchant for infectious hooks, razor-sharp delivery and powerfully authentic lyrics, RedHook’s live reputation has seen them in demand at some of the biggest stages on earth: Rock Am Ring, Rock Im Park, Download UK, Good Things Festival and Groovin The Moo.
“The Gong has always held a special place in our hearts and we are so beyond pumped to get to ring in the New Year at the North Gong Hotel on this absolutely off chops pub fezzy lineup!” enthused RedHook vocalist Emmy Mack. “Vibes are gonna be through the roof and it’ll be extra bloody special to have a Soju singalong with our OG choir from the mighty Illawarra.”
The UK’s Switch Disco forged a career from mashup virality, establishing themselves as a DJ/producer duo who are in demand internationally thanks to their forward-thinking blends serving up past, present and future club anthems. Their mashup of Bicep “Glue” and Nelly Furtado “Say It Right” exploded on SoundCloud with more than 9 million plays. Their originals combine influences to create timeless dance classics, as seen by their current single Hideaway featuring Tones & I. The duo’s platinum record REACT, featuring Ella Henderson and sampling Robert Miles’ “Children”, has over 200 million streams and earned a nomination for ‘Song of the Year’ at the 2024 BRIT Awards. Following a 21-week Ibiza residency and shows across Europe and the US, North Gong Hotel is next up on their agenda!
Swiftly becoming one of Wollongong’s hottest live music calendar events, North Gong Hotel NYE has previously hosted Hockey Dad, Mallrat, Mansionair and Set Mo in 2023, while last year’s edition boasted Cub Sport, The Vanns and Bag Raiders. With food, drinks and entertainment sorted under the picturesque lights of North Gong Hotel’s iconic glowing tree, there’s no better place to be this New Year’s Eve.
