DEAD POET SOCIETY began as an indie outfit, self-producing and recording their own material, including two acclaimed EPs. In a 2016 interview with Beyond The Stage Magazine, frontman Jack Underkofler described their sound as “heavy indie rock,” blending down-tuned, powerful guitar riffs with soft, pop-leaning choruses and verses.
After graduating in 2016, the band relocated to Los Angeles. That same year, their music caught the attention of the influential Mexican YouTube channel Pepe Problemas, leading to an invitation from the rising rock band Sputnik to open on their national tour of Mexico. Over the next two years, DEAD POET SOCIETY toured Mexico multiple times, building a devoted fanbase.
Their U.S. breakthrough came in 2018 when Spotify editorial added their single “American Blood” to prominent playlists, following an organic rise on social media and streaming platforms. Early supporters included Josh Katz of Badflower, who championed their song “CoDA” to his label Big Machine and others, sparking interest from multiple labels. The band eventually signed with Spinefarm, releasing their debut album -!- in 2021.
Since then, DEAD POET SOCIETY has become headliners in their own right, selling out 1,000+ capacity venues and performing on the main stages of major festivals worldwide. They are currently on a massive North American tour with Chevelle and Asking Alexandria.
