Windwaker share bold new single “Victory Lap” off the back of Good Things Festival announcement

Aussie genre-bending up ‘n comers Windwaker post a major “W” on the leaderboard with their new single Victory Lap”, out today via Civilians & Fearless Records. The release also follows last week’s announcement that they’ll play Good Things Festival this December.

Their first track back since their sophomore record, HYPERVIOLENCE, dropped last July, “Victory Lap” boasts a confident swagger with a healthy dose of attitude. The new single offers up grooves for days and listeners are treated to a storm of glitchy guitars, bloodthirsty screams and boisterous beats – but it’s not all fists and fury. Those hooky choruses and the hip-hop-inspired vocal cadence will have you nodding your head involuntarily. It’s a thrilling collision of sounds and styles and of genres and generations. “Victory Lap is a rejection of the naysayers, the gatekeepers and anyone who’s ever tried to box us in,” tells the band. “It’s a reclamation of power and a celebration of self-worth”.

Produced by drummer and in-house engineer Chris Lalic and mastered by Zakk Cervini (Bring Me The Horizon, Stand Atlantic, Bad Omens), the track arrives with a blockbuster music video. Vocalist Liam Guinane spits lines mid-flight while hanging out the side of a helicopter, all while a SWAT team gives chase on the ground below. Amid the escalating chaos, Windwaker soundtrack their own mania while masked figures surge into frame, forming a menacing posse that rallies behind the band. Watch the video here, directed by Colin Jeffs of Ten of Swords Media.

Windwaker will take “Victory Lap” to North America this September and October, joining The Plot In You and Northlane for 20 shows, before returning home for Good Things Festival in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this December. Tickets on sale now via Oztix.

Since forming in 2017, Liam Guinane [vocals], Justin Keurntjes [guitar], Indey Salvestro [bass], Chris Lalic [drums], and Connor Robins [synths/samples] have built one of Australia’s most dedicated heavy music followings.

Their sophomore album, HYPERVIOLENCE, has racked up over 20 million Spotify streams and debuted at #12 on the ARIA Top 20 Australian Artists Physical Albums chart. HYPERVIOLENCE was taken on a near-sold out national tour in February and was swiftly followed by a mammoth North American tour supporting Make Them Suffer through to April, seeing Windwaker win over thousands of new fans and cement their status as one of modern metal’s most exciting new forces.

Their latest single, “Victory Lap”, is available and streaming everywhere now via Civilians & Fearless Records.
