On July 25th, brutal blackened death metallers Cordyceps will release their sophomore album, Hell Inside, via Unique Leader Records. For a first preview of the record, the new single, “Murder All,” can be streamed now here

Cordyceps’ Rafael Gonzalez (vocals) comments: “The single and album are about mental anguish; real life situations of grief and suffering but from the perspective of cordyceps attaching to humans and absorbing our emotions.

“Many of these songs are about my personal struggle.

“The album and these songs are a way of letting go of the past.”

Formed in 2014 with a vision of pure death metal extremity, Cordyceps spent their first couple years of existence perfecting their sound before releasing their debut EP, Black Blood Butchery – an unmercifully devastating and relentlessly technical slab of audible violence, which was released on New Standard Elite Records in 2017. The EP quickly garnered attention with Black Dahlia Murder vocalist Trevor Strnad, who wrote in his Obituarist column, “‘Black Blood Butchery’ is a veritable festival of blazing technicality and musical prowess. This is thinking man’s brutal death metal in every way.”

The group then caught the attention of Unique Leader Records in 2018, and they began working on their debut full-length: Betrayal (2020). A jaw-dropping, vicious, and honest work, Betrayal took Cordyceps to new heights, with media hailing the album as “oppressively heavy in all of the right ways” (Dead Rhetoric).

With their upcoming sophomore record, Hell Inside, Cordyceps is poised to stay on this trajectory, delivering 9 tracks of uncompromising brutal blackened death metal, honed to perfection over the last two years.
