Australian hardcore/metal act NICOLAS CAGE FIGHTER are absolutely stoked to have confirmation that the actor and man behind the bands namesake is not only a fan of the band but also appreciates what they stand for. In a recent Q&A in The Guardian, Nicolas Cage gave the band a very special mention in an interview while discussing the range of things named after him. Nicolas Cage states: “I am familiar with a hard rock band out of Australia called Nicolas Cage Fighter, and I think they’re terrific. Their songs are empowering. The lyrics are all about taking ownership of your mistakes, never being a victim, figuring out how you can fix your problems. “Re-evaluate your life / Focus on yourself / Look me in the eyes again / Tell me that none of this is your fault.” They’re not afraid to write songs that are about where you have to own up to your mistakes.
With the band currently preparing for the release of their new album ‘I Watched You Burn’ the acknowledgement and appreciation has left the band slack jawed. Guitarist Justin Ellis, who named the band, states: “Since we started out there was always this thought, I wonder if he is aware of our band name and how would he feel about it if he heard us?And if he did, I hope he likes it. To see this documented in an article is as you can imagine a huge deal for us, if he reads this, thank you. As an actor he is a total legend and always pushes the boundaries on what he can do, so that’s inspirational to us as a band and what we do”.
‘I Watched You Burn’ which was mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson of Cryptopsy, (Shadow of Intent, Ingested and Suffocation) will be released through Bleeding Art Collective later this year with the lead single due for release next month.
