UK MELODIC TECH DEATH SHREDDERS ‘KARYBDIS’ UNLEASH NEW SINGLE ‘THE REAPER AND THE REVENANT’!!!

Having carved a name for themselves performing on festivals such as Bloodstock Open Air and UK Tech Fest, sharing the stage with acts such as Anthrax, Psycroptic and The Black Dahlia Murder, and receiving critical acclaim for their last EP ‘Order & Chaos’, London melodic tech death metal act KARYBDIS now return with a new single and video ‘The Reaper and The Revenant’.

Self-produced by the band’s guitarist Dave Klussmann (who also produced ‘Order & Chaos’) with striking artwork by the renowned Giannis Nakos (Suffocation, The Agonist, Evergrey) the new song is out now through Bleeding Art Collective / Blood blast Distribution.

Commenting on the new song, Dave offers:

“I wanted to expand on the sound we forged on Order & Chaos and push the dynamics and technicality to the next level. The song kicks off as a real rager with fast technical riffs and dissonant breakdowns, but then transitions into something a lot more atmospheric, with melodic basslines and dense instrumentation. ‘The Reaper & The Revenant’ marks a new era for Karybdis and serves as a blueprint for future music.”

Adding to this, vocalist and lyricist Rich O’Donnell discusses the subject matter and inspiration behind the title:

“I took some inspiration from an Edgar Allen Poe story when coming up with the lyrics for The Reaper & The Revenant. It tells the tale of a man (The Revenant) in love with Death (Reaper), who brings himself back from the dead again and again so that he can be with the Reaper, which then leads to cataclysmic events”.

The video for the new single was created by the immensely talented Glenn Mountford who has also worked with another London based titan Confessions Of A Traitor. You can check the video out below:

With Metal Hammer describing KARYBDIS as an ‘eclectic blend of melodic death metal, 21st-century metalcore and prog-tinged technicality’, the new single not only confirms this, but will leave you wanting for more, and that is nigh, with the band hard at work on new material for their next release.
