Fear Factory began in Los Angeles, California, on October 30, 1990, and spent the next three decades redefining the sound and spirit of heavy metal culture. In 2022, the tradition continues with the arrival of Recoded. Like the innovative one-two punch of Demanufacture and RemanufactureRecoded brilliantly reimagines the songs from 2021’s landmark Aggression Continuum with diverse ferocity.

The remixes stand as a mesmerizing counterpart to the band’s tenth album. Produced by co-founder, songwriter, and guitarist Dino Cazares and mixed/mastered by Damien Rainaud (DragonForce, Once Human), Recoded boasts new interpretations of Aggression Continuum songs. Recoded features longtime collaborator Rhys Fulber, Zardonic, Tyrant Of Death, Rob GEE, and BLUSH_RESPONSE. Recoded is the fourth Fear Factory album with artwork by Anthony Clarkson.

Fulber is one-half of electro-industrial legends Front Line Assembly, with Bill Leeb (ex-Skinny Puppy). Zardonic is the masked, Venezuelan-born musician, producer, and DJ once described as “Skrillex meets Slipknot,” master of an innovative blend of drum and bass and extreme music. Tyrant Of Death combines unrelenting electro aggression with blackened groove metal into walls of noise.

Dance/techno devotees know Rob GEE as “the hardest DJ to ever play the Limelight in NYC.” BLUSH_RESPONSE is the Berlin-based project of Cuban American musician Joey Blush, whose resumé includes programming for Mexican pop singer Cristian Castro. He was also a touring member of Scar The Martyr, the industrial metal band whose lineup included the late Joey Jordison. The vinyl edition features two bonus tracks, including a remix by dark synth cyberpunks Turboslash.

Fear Factory headline major festivals; earned several awards from the international sales charts; toured with legends like Black Sabbath, Slayer, Iron Maiden, and Metallica; and influenced generations of bands. Their commitment to unrelenting extremity and creative authenticity ensured its place in metal history, from the touchstone masterpiece Demanufacture to the brutally dominating Aggression Continuum, a turning point where what “was” transformed into what will be. Fear Factory ushered in an explosive combination of paint-stripping riffs, a scream/sing dichotomy, industrial-tinged drums, and electronic flourishes, and that sound became ubiquitous in heavy music.

Aggression Continuum featured Cazares, drummer Mike Heller, and vocalist Burton C. Bell. It was produced and engineered by Rainaud (DragonForce, Once Human), with keyboards by Igor Khoroshev (ex-Yes), and programming on two songs from Fulber. Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Killswitch Engage, Trivium) mixed. He also mixed the album’s critically acclaimed predecessor, Genexus.
